Hi there! So here we are....the finale to our triology on designing with color, and I left my personal favorite for last. I love the fresh clean look of blue and white. With it, my mind wanders to a palette of blues rooted in travel - from the blue houses of Chefchaouen, Morocco to the blue roofs of the Greek isles to the Blue City of Jaipur and the deep indigos of Japan. Blue, in its many shades, is beloved around the globe - and with good reason.
The combination of blue and white is incredibly versatile depending on the the shade of blue and the amount of it. A pale blue has a relaxed, calming feel to it, while brighter blues are energetic and lively, and deep navy or peacock blues are sophisticated and even brooding. In addition to mixing shades, consider mixing prints like those seen throughout the inimitable Halcyon House in Australia. Add in textured solids like grasscloth, linen or velvet with a tactile element to elevate the look and feel of the room.
Below are some of my favorite blue and white rooms with several from the aforementioned Halcyon House - I’d move in there tomorrow if they’d let me! Also visit our Blue & White board on Pinterest for more inspiration.
