Artisan & Story:
Pais Textil works with artisans in Peru to support and advance their weaving as a sustainable business. Combining the highest-quality materials, centuries-old weaving techniques and contemporary designs results in the beautiful line of textiles like you see here. The collection of pillows offered by Clover were woven by a group of migrant men and women called Tejedores de Cajamarquilla.
Textiles have a long and storied history throughout South America. Peruvian weavers use traditional backstrap looms just as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago. Herding alpacas in the high Andes mountains provides the lovely soft, warm material used for weaving. Textiles were traditionally a symbol of wealth with each symbol and color conveying a particular meaning.
